WHY USE AN AGENCY?

Information for Clients

Using a specialist Nanny Agency is the best way of finding the right nanny, particularly if the agency is a member of REC. REC requires all of its members to abide by the specialist Code of Practice.

A specialist nanny agency will save you time by advertising for, interviewing and referencing the applicants and will usually charge a recruitment fee only when a successful candidate is appointed. A REC agency will vet and check references of potential nannies and will themselves interview a nanny before introducing them to you.

In addition to finding you a suitable nanny, REC agencies can advise on salary levels, job market trends and conditions and other aspects of employment formalities. Most agencies will provide an aftercare service for both you and your nanny and will undertake to find a replacement nanny in an emergency or should the arrangement fail in its early days.

All information and assignments are handled in confidence.

REC publishes a list of nanny agencies in memebership which can be obtained on the REC website. Alternatively, you can contact the REC Specialist Divisions Department on 02074 623 260 for a list of members.

Information for Nannies

Using a specialist nanny agency is the best way of finding the right job, particularly if the agency is a REC member. A REC member will be able to:

  1. Give full details of the conditions that a prospective employer is offering.
  2. Give up to date advice on salaries and future careers prospects.
  3. Offer a personal service tailored to your needs.

When you register with an agency it is important to:

  1. Remember that agencies are not allowed to charge fees to job seekers.
  2. Provide the agency with as much information as possible about your requirements.
  3. Check that the agency is a REC member - this is the only way to be sure it complies with the REC Code of Practice.
